Sodium is the solo project of Ben Harsel, guitarist and keyboardist of Richmond post-punk outfit Hard Copy, who have an LP out on Feel It Records. This collects a handful of Sodium EPs and singles that were quietly released between 2021 and 2023, all of which have been re-mixed and mastered for this cassette. Sodium is heavily indebted to new wave/punk icons Magazine, Wire and Devo but comes at it with its own perspective, jumping expertly between dissonant riffing and off-the-wall synth melodies. All 11 tracks were home-recorded with an array of thrift-store keyboards, drum machines and more conventional instrumentation. Sodium has another release coming out sometime in the near future.
